The Rawlins Fire Department participates in the State of Wyoming certifications programs that are administered by the fire marshal's office and the Wyoming Division of Forestry
Our department's training facilities include:
- Burn building
- Confined space vault
- Drill tower
- Extrication pad
- Natural gas props
- Smoke house
The department receives hydrocarbon training from the Sinclair Refinery located six miles east of the city. Airport firefighter certification is provided by the FAA approved Airport Rescue Fire Fighting School in Casper, Wyoming. The Wyoming Fire Academy in Riverton, Wyoming is also used for specialized training opportunities. Cody Fire School is a yearly training course offered in Cody, Wyoming in May of each year.
Hazardous Materials Technician Certification
Hazardous materials technician certification is obtained from the State of Wyoming through the Wyoming Fire Academy in Riverton, Wyoming. Officer certification is obtained from the National Fire Academy outreach classes across the state. The department trains on the second and forth Wednesday of each month. This training is provided mainly by the paid staff who train each day on shift. All training sponsored by the Rawlins Fire Department is made available to other fire departments within our community and throughout the state.
