The Rawlins Police Department's Communications Division is staffed with six full-time dispatchers and is managed by Supervisor Valeta Rodabaugh. The Dispatch Center is open 24 hours a day to provide assistance to the citizens of Rawlins.
- Answering 911 calls and non-emergent calls ranging from animal control issues to stressful emergencies
- Dispatching police, fire and ambulance to emergent and non-emergent calls for service
- Checking drivers and vehicles for valid licensing and checking for warrants
- Preparing court paperwork such as subpoenas to be served.
- Logging bench warrants and confirming they are valid for officers
- Entering stolen items and missing persons into the national database
- Confirming stolen items and missing person records as valid when located by another agency
- Logging pawn slips and checking to make sure items have not been entered as stolen
- Educating Kindergarteners and other school children about 911 as well as provide tours of the Police Department
- Updates the key holder information for local businesses.
- Communications Officers assist in the records department as well.
The Records Department is managed by Valeta Rodabaugh. Each communications officer is cross-trained and rotated through the Records Department. The Records Department maintains and processes arrest reports, court documents, citations, accident reports, and background checks daily.
It is the Rawlins Police Department 9-1-1 Center’s mission to serve as the vital link between the citizens and the public safety agencies in Rawlins. We strive to collect and disseminate all requests for service in a prompt, courteous, and efficient manner for all our citizens. Through our actions, we help save lives, protect property, and assist the public in their time of need.
